A group of UK- and Gulf-based pathologists identify the lack of a unified, AI-aware publishing and career platform for the global pathology community. Initial concept documents and stakeholder interviews are completed across London, Riyadh and Melbourne.
Market research across 14 countries validates the need. The founding team secures seed funding and begins building the technology stack. Partnerships with early advisory board members from Europe and the Middle East are formalised.
Global Pathology Publications is incorporated in England & Wales (Company No. 14283756). The website goes live with an initial portfolio of 120 peer-reviewed articles, a professional directory and an open-access publishing model. The first issue of Global Pathology Review is released.

Maintaining the integrity of the scientific record is a responsibility we take seriously. Our publishing practices are built on internationally recognised frameworks and continuously reviewed against evolving best practice.
We adhere to international publishing standards including COPE guidelines, ICMJE recommendations and EQUATOR Network reporting guidelines to ensure the highest quality of published research. All original research articles must be accompanied by a structured abstract, a data availability statement and a conflict-of-interest declaration. Randomised trials require CONSORT checklist compliance; diagnostic accuracy studies require STARD reporting; systematic reviews require PRISMA documentation.
All submissions undergo rigorous screening for plagiarism, data fabrication, image manipulation and ethical compliance using industry-standard tools including iThenticate and Proofig. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for research misconduct. Every manuscript is checked against our internal database to identify duplicate submissions and salami-slicing. Ethical approval documentation is verified for all studies involving human subjects or animal models, and we are committed to maintaining the integrity of the scientific record.
We require full disclosure of AI tool usage in research and manuscript preparation. Authors must declare the specific tools used (e.g. ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini), the stages at which they were employed (literature search, data analysis, statistical modelling, drafting, language editing), and the extent of human oversight applied to AI-generated output. Our AI transparency policy, introduced in 2024, was one of the first in pathology publishing and has been cited as a model by the Committee on Publication Ethics.
Every submission to Global Pathology Review undergoes double-blind peer review by a minimum of two independent reviewers with demonstrated expertise in the manuscript's subject area. Reviewers are selected from our pool of 340+ registered reviewers across 32 countries. We target a first-decision turnaround of 28 days and provide structured reviewer feedback using standardised assessment forms. Reviewers receive annual recognition, and our top-performing reviewers are invited to join our editorial board.
